How we review your request.
Your request is firstly assessed by a medically trained triage clinician who will decide who the most suitable member of the clinical team is to deal with your request.
Simple, minor illness cases may be handled by clinicians running minor illness clinics, while more complex concerns are reviewed by a GP.
To make sure patients with the greatest medical need are seen promptly, all requests are prioritised based on clinical urgency and risk:
Urgent
If you need same-day medical attention, a clinician will contact you on the same day.
Time-sensitive
If your condition requires prompt review but can safely wait, we will arrange an appointment within a few working days.
Routine
For non-urgent issues, we will confirm the outcome—whether this involves referral to other community services or an appointment timeframe—by the end of the next working day.
Please note that urgency is based on clinical need, not personal preference. This approach ensures that those who are most unwell receive care as quickly as possible.
Depending on your needs, you may be offered an appointment with a nurse practitioner, paramedic, or another appropriate clinician.
Requests submitted later in the day will still be reviewed that day. If it is clinically safe to wait, your appointment may be scheduled for the next working day.
If your symptoms get worse while you are waiting, please contact the practice again.
